Are swimming noodles anti-surveillance tools?

Combining approaches from works through the Dazzle Club and Noodles, this workshop questioned the body’s role in public space and our complex relationship with collective trust.

This was first realised through a Radycal Lab with Pedreira, Porto in 2023.

A four day performance-lab of radical acts against surveillance. Through noodle moving, dazzle walking and collective research, a group of selected artists from an open call joined Emily Roderick in a playful dissection of what it means to be in today’s surveillance culture.

Arranged over four evenings, ‘Are Swimming Noodles Anti-Surveillance Tools?’ is a series of mini-workshops where together we explored the following:

_Public noodle interventions
_Walking as an act of defiance
_Anti-surveillance makeup techniques

Off the back of the Radycal Lab, I then continued my stay at Pedreira for a month long residency, exploring further ideas around swimming noodles and developing future projects.
